My role as student mentor

As Head of Recruiting for Goldman Sachs, I spent 16 years working with secondary school children, undergraduates and MBA students. I find it easy to connect with young people and to motivate them. My goal is to get to know people as individuals and help them show the best of themselves.

As a mentor to students, I work closely with families to help with:

  • interview practice for pupils moving to secondary school

  • interview training for university students ahead of work experience, internships and full time roles

  • CV and application building for undergraduates applying for internships and full time opportunities

For each of these, the importance of constructive and actionable feedback cannot be underestimated. Giving feedback is one of my key strengths and has proven to be a real catalyst for improvement.

I am experienced at interviewing using a number of different interview techniques and, critically, I understand what schools, universities and employers are looking for from their new recruits.

“My 10-year old son described his first-ever practice senior school interview with Sarah as relaxed, funny and interesting. What more could you want! Sarah immediately put him at ease, creating a warm and safe environment in which he felt he could “have a go”. The combination of Sarah’s enormous empathy and vast experience in recruiting is a winning formula. Sarah provided really helpful feedback on areas in which my son could improve and he went into the real thing feeling confident and well-prepared. We were delighted that he received an offer from his first-choice school.” Lizi Cope

“Sarah helped our 10 year-old son prepare for the interview process as part of his 11+ school application process. She made him feel at ease in her company and he found the time he spent with her invaluable. She was able to identify specific areas for improvement in how he articulated his responses to questions, and helped him to do this in an authentic way. Most importantly, he was able to secure an offer from his preferred school and we are incredibly thankful to Sarah for the role she played in helping our son achieve this key milestone. We would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah's services to any parent going through the school application process with their children.” Abhinav Shah
